German Championship and a little accident …
sorry that there hasn’t been no update for such a long time … last weekend we were running the German Championships at Saint - Peter Ording. We had 4 amazing days of great conditions, great livebands and party as well as an amazing comp!!
On Thursday we could do a “best trick” which a croud of about 500 people standing right at the water. We had offshore conditions and it was that warm that all of us were riding in shorts …
The wind kicked back in on Friday. This time from the west which gives you some amazing conditions in SPO! I could make my way all through the singles into the semi - final where I lost against Mario Rodwald.
On Saturday we had good winds again and the single could be finished as well as parts of the double elimination. Sunday morning we did run the doubles … all of us were still a little hangover except from Mario whos mum took good care of him and brought him to bed at 10pm
It was a good decision because he should win the Germans again and remain Champion 07 & 08! I could win the first heat against Toby Hölter but then I lost against Jan Schiegnitz which put me on the 4th place in the freestyle - comp.
The next day there were 100km/h of wind predicted so a few friends of me stayed there with me and we did a huge session the next day with about 4 kites on the water, sunshine and fair 30 kts of wind!
Unfortunately I flew my kite together with a friend of mine … we both had the idea of doing a kiteloop after passing the other one, without looking back and making sure the other one wouldn’t do a KL as well …
My 5th line was broken, I didn’t really think about it and simply cut it out … well … on the first kiteloop I did after going back out all my 4 lines snapped at about 6m of height and I fell straight on my right ear. My eardrum broke and I had to go to the hospital in Kiel so they could fix it. 2 weeks of the water for me now …
And what do we learn from it? ALWAYS check your lines after a crash … just because it didn’t happen to you in the last 6 years doesn’t mean it’ll never happen …
Good winds to all of you
Sebastian
