The last couple of days have been somewhat disappointing for the filming. We couldn’t cooperate with the Gyro – Copter since the pilot doesn’t want to fly in westerly winds due to the gusts. There’ve been rainshowers almost every day and on Flag the wind was straight- to cross-offshore which caused really gusty conditions there. In Cotillo on the westerly part of the Northshore we’ve got a big shorebreak and onshore conditions which makes it hard to ride and practice there.

The day before yesterday, when the main-storm was rolling in we gave it a shot anyways and it turned out to be quite a fun alternative to the gusty conditions on Flag Beach once in a while. The wind picked up like crazy and I was just jumping as high as I could on my 10m PSYCHO4 which was pretty fun.

Yesterday the peak of the storm passed Fuerteventura. We had wind gusting between 10 and 35 knots on Flag Beach. I just grabbed some windsurfing-material from the station. Was fun, I haven’t done it in 4 years. After that some kiteloops on the 8m. But it was so freaking gusty you couldn’t really pretend weather you would make it through the loop or just drill your head into the reef which is why I just quit for the day. Don’t really see the point in having 10 attempts for a single good kiteloop.

Today it looks a lot better and we’ll be going to Flag now. Still offshore but less strong and with a little wave.

Unfortunately my plane’s leaving to Germany tomorrow afternoon. Just came for the beginning of the west-wind and leave when the situation changes back to normal. What a timing.
